FAQs about disability services in the Northern Rivers
What disability support services are available in the Northern Rivers?
Health Support Plus offers daily living assistance, community participation, respite and carer support, home and garden help, wellbeing services, and education and employment support. The service mix can be discussed around your goals and location. Visit our individual NDIS service pages for more detail, then check current availability for the support you need.
Which Northern Rivers areas do you service?
Our published service areas include Lismore, Ballina, Alstonville, Lennox Head, Byron Bay, Bangalow, Evans Head and Wardell. Availability varies by service, preferred hours and suitable staffing. For Wollongbar, Casino, Kyogle or another Northern Rivers community, contact us to confirm whether the requested support can be arranged. Being in the Northern Rivers does not automatically mean that every service is available in every town.
Can I choose or change my support worker?
We discuss your preferences when considering a match, including personality, interests, communication and relevant skills. A preferred worker or schedule depends on availability. If a match is not working for you, speak with us about what needs to change so we can discuss a suitable alternative.
Can support workers help me access the community?
Yes. Community participation can involve support with shopping, social outings, local activities and practical skills for getting around. Before arranging an outing, discuss your access needs, transport, timing and the assistance you want. We will clarify what can be provided and any costs that apply.
How do I start services with Health Support Plus?
Use our enquiry page, call 0460 623 658 or email info@healthsupportplus.org. Tell us your location, the support you are looking for and your preferred days. We will discuss your circumstances, suitable services, worker preferences and the next steps before you decide.
Do I need an NDIS plan before contacting you?
No. You can contact us while exploring your options or waiting for a plan. We can explain our services and discuss how we may be able to help once suitable funding and arrangements are in place. An enquiry does not mean that a service will be funded; this depends on your individual circumstances and plan.
Do you work with different NDIS plan-management arrangements?
You can enquire with a self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA-managed plan. We will discuss whether the requested service fits our available supports and your funding arrangements. If you are unsure about a funding item, ask your plan manager, support coordinator or the NDIA to confirm before committing to a service.
